The European Year of Intercultural Dialogue is an initiative of the European Commission which promotes tolerance and mutual respect between the representatives of different nations, cultures and religions. The Year in Poland is coordinated by the National Centre for Culture.

A vital role in the promotion of dialogue is played by the bilingual (Polish-English) website of the Year (www.dialog2008.pl ), whose basic function is to present the Polish projects related to intercultural dialogue, to disseminate the information concerning the Year’s activities and to integrate the environments working for dialogue.

The site contains, among other things, a catalogue of good practices (i.e. the best projects in the field of dialogue implemented by Polish institutions and organisations), a map of the most interesting events carried out in Poland, papers on dialogue, the profiles of the Ambassadors of the Year, and important information and news concerning the intercultural dialogue in Poland and in the world.

The profile and the functionalities of the site will be maintained after the implementation of the Year of Dialogue is complete, thus providing a platform for the of exchange of information and experiences related to intercultural dialogue.
