The Polish alt-pop scene is on the rise. A lot of songs referred to as alt-pop are featured on the charts. However, not every valuable performer has a chance to successfully break into the media and to receive due coverage. This applies especially to young artists. It is to them that the mini-festival ‘The Best of Polish Alt-Pop’ is dedicated, held under the Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Alt-pop is a very broad category defining more ambitious popular music. Over time, however, it ceased to mean anything, because the niche has become... mainstream. Understandably, prestigious festivals, influential record labels and popular radio stations quickly followed this profitable phenomenon. However, the uncompromising bands that regard success as a by-product – and not as the most important goal of their activities – remained alternative. Their art is successful, their albums appreciated by reviewers; sometimes they are even noticed by an influential media outlet. They enjoy the support of their loyal fans and give unforgettable club concerts. However, rarely do they perform on one stage.

‘The Best of Polish Alt-Pop’ – a mini-festival organised under the Cultural Programme of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union – created such an opportunity. On 23 May 2025, in the ‘Królestwo’ club in Katowice, NIEMOCBLUSZCZ, WCZASYSANTABARBARA and CINAMMON GUM will perform on one stage. They are still relatively new yet already established bands. All of them are definitely original in terms of their style and nature, but they share similar aesthetics. The featured bands are both diverse and complementary, which makes the Katowice concert a unique cultural experience.

If you are interested in ambitious pop music, you cannot miss this event!
