Robert Piaskowski – Director of the National Centre for Culture

Sociologist, Polish philologist, cultural diplomacy graduate, cultural manager, and animator. He graduated in Polish Philology and Sociology from the Jagiellonian University, Social Sciences from the Université d'Aix-Marseille, and Cultural Diplomacy from Collegium Civitas in Warsaw.
From 2007 to 2019, he served as the Program Director of KBF, co-creating and curating festivals such as the Krakow Film Music Festival (FMF), Opera Rara, Sacrum Profanum, Misteria Paschalia, the Miłosz Festival, and the Conrad Festival. From 2019 to 2024, he was the Director for Creativity and Cultural Development and the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Krakow for Culture, responsible for the city’s cultural policy, the development of creative industries, and international cooperation.
His key achievements include coordinating Krakow’s successful bid for the title of UNESCO City of Literature and organizing the 41st session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. He has been active in networks such as Europa Nostra, the Festival Cities Network, and the European Festivals Association; he also represented the Mayor of Krakow on the Board of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC). Director of the NCK since 2024. He represents Poland in the IFACCA network and lectures at the Jagiellonian University, the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), and the AGH University of Krakow.

Cultural manager and specialist in strategy and communication, with extensive experience in the local government and NGO sectors. He has been responsible for organizational transformations, the development of artistic programs, fundraising, and cooperation with local, national, and international partners.
He served as the Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2025, coordinating activities between the government administration, cultural institutions, and European bodies. Previously, he managed the organizational and programmatic development of local government cultural institutions, with a particular focus on community arts centers. He has long-standing expertise in securing public and private funding for cultural activities, as well as in project and team management.

Doctor of Humanities and graduate of the Jagiellonian University. She specializes in bridging the gap between research, public policy, and institutional practice. At the NCK, she is responsible for research and analysis, international cooperation, regional policies, and the NCK Publishing House.
For 15 years, she headed the Malopolska Institute of Culture (MIK) in Krakow, establishing it as one of Poland's key centers for cultural reflection. She coordinated the creation and implementation of the Cultural Education Laboratory—a three-year development program for Warsaw’s community arts centers. For many years, she was involved in the development of cultural animation in Poland as the president and later a member of the "Forum Krakow" National Association of Animators. In her work, she combines the perspective of a researcher with the practical management of cultural institutions and the shaping of public policy.

Political scientist and cultural manager, MBA graduate from the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). He has been professionally associated with the NCK since 2011, spending over a decade shaping the institution's programs and initiatives.
He also gained experience in the cultural sector as a project team leader at the Pilecki Institute (2020–2021) and the "Niepodległa" Program Office (2022–2024). He is the initiator, co-author, and coordinator of numerous cultural projects, social-educational campaigns, and outreach activities. His particular interests lie in the culture of memory and historical education, combining substantive expertise with organizational and managerial skills.

Associated with the NCK since 2016. He graduated in Political Science from the University of Warsaw. He is responsible for the Centre’s grant programs, scholarships, and training projects, as well as projects funded by the European Union.
Previously, he headed the NCK Grant Programs Department and served as the Accessibility Coordinator, implementing projects for the inclusion of people with disabilities. Prior to joining the NCK, he spent many years at the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People (PFRON), managing nationwide competency support programs and EU-funded projects. In 2018, he served as the press spokesperson for the 1st Eufonie International Music Festival of Central and Eastern Europe.
